Rates are used every day. People use them at work: 40 hours a week or when they earn interest annually at a bank. When rates are expressed as a quantity of 1, they are called united rates:
Unit Rate
A unit rate is a rate where the second amount is 1 unit.

Divide:
30 ÷ 2 = 15
15 passengers per bus
Example 2
33 kilometers in 3 hours = x kilometers per hour
Divide:
33 ÷ 3 = 11
11 kilometers per hour
Example 3
55 flowers in 11 vases = x flowers per vase
Divide:
55 ÷ 11 = 5
