What Does Algebra Mean?
When we become fed up with math, many of us ask what does algebra mean? We insist that the name of the subject doesn't even make sense!

The word "algebra" comes from Abū ‘Abdallāh Muḥammad ibn Mūsā Al-Khwārizm.  His statute is located in the Uzbekistani city of Khiva.  Head towards the bottom of the page for a brief history of algebra.
