Using Social Media in the Classroom Should more teachers be using   social media in the classroom ? Moreover, what is the role of social media in education ? As a high school teacher I know how important it is to develop new and innovative strategies to connect to students .  I recently noticed the way in which my students interacted with each other regarding FOX's television show ' Empire '. I teach Math and decided to use the show's statistics to reach my students in a more effective manner.  As one student put it, I am 'just not hip' therefore I have to use strategies like these in order to engage my students.
